Harrison says that the most important thing that you can do in a bad market is to not give up and keep trying. The problem with most people is that they often give up at the very first sign of trouble. He says that giving up will not get you anything but disappointment; on the other hand, if you keep trying hard and put in your best efforts, he believes that you can turn things in your favor.
To substantiate his point, Harrison talks about the difficulties he faced in his job as a paper delivery boy and how he never gave up. He found ways to overcome his problems, be it a corrupt manager who sold him more papers than he could deliver on the cold winter mornings of Michigan or the weather itself, or the tickets he got for unlawfully riding a motorcycle at 71 mph in a 25-mph zone.
